Why upgrade from the original Java Neo elastomer?
The original Java Neo rear suspension uses an elastomer block. While it provides some compliance, the amount of compression is relatively small and the suspension movement may not feel particularly noticeable during normal riding.
Original Setup
Elastomer Block
Simple and compact, but with relatively limited and less noticeable suspension compression.
Juin Upgrade
Twin Steel Coil Springs
Up to 10 mm of suspension-unit compression, giving the rider more noticeable suspension movement and a more comfortable response over uneven surfaces.
Twin-coil suspension with viscous damping
Inside the Juin Java Neo suspension are two identical steel coil springs. The system uses viscous grease working against the twin-coil mechanism to provide damping and control the suspension movement.
Technical clarification: some units may carry the wording “Hydraulic Unit” on the housing. Juin twin-coil suspension does not use a conventional hydraulic damper. Its damping effect is produced by viscous grease on the travel surface.
Up to 10 mm maximum suspension stroke
The Juin suspension unit can compress by up to approximately 10 mm. This measurement refers to the suspension unit's maximum stroke or compression and should not be confused with 10 mm of rear-wheel travel.
Manual locking, without unwanted freeplay
Unlike the original Java Neo automatic clip/lock arrangement, the Juin system uses a manual latch. Engage the latch after unfolding the bike and disengage it before folding. The locking design also eliminates unwanted freeplay at the suspension interface when properly fitted.
Installed on Java Neo 20" Full Carbon / J-AIR 20"
The Java Neo 20" Full Carbon carries the J-AIR frame branding, so many owners also refer to it as the J-AIR 20". Juin produces a dedicated mounting version for compatible Full Carbon / J-AIR 20" frames.
Manual latch operation
When unfolding: manually engage the suspension latch before riding.
Before folding: manually disengage the latch so the rear assembly can fold normally.

IMPORTANT J-AIR COMPATIBILITY NOTICE
Latest J-AIR 20" batches may not fit.
Some latest-production Java Neo 20" Full Carbon / J-AIR 20" bikes use a revised rear suspension mounting design. The Juin suspension shown on this page is not compatible with that revised mount.
Unsure which version you have? Send us a clear photo of your existing rear suspension and mounting area before purchase. Our team can verify compatibility for you.
Professional fitting is included
The mounting bolt differs between the Java Neo aluminium-frame and Full Carbon / J-AIR versions, and precise fitting is required for each individual bicycle.
The angle and alignment between the seatpost clamp and suspension can vary slightly from bike to bike. Our mechanics therefore align and fit each Juin suspension individually to ensure correct contact and operation.
For this reason, the Juin Java Neo suspension is sold together with installation at The Bike Atrium only. We do not supply this item for self-installation, as incorrect fitting may damage the suspension or the bicycle.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Juin suspension fit Java Neo 20"?
Yes. It fits compatible Java Neo 20" aluminium models and earlier-mount Java Neo 20" Full Carbon / J-AIR 20" bikes. The mounting version differs between aluminium and carbon frames.
Does it fit the Java Neo Full Carbon / J-AIR 20"?
Yes, provided the bike uses the earlier compatible rear suspension mounting design. Some latest J-AIR 20" batches use a revised mount that is not compatible. Send us a photo if you are unsure.
Does it fit Java Neo J-AIR 16"?
No. The Juin rear suspension listed here is not compatible with the Java Neo J-AIR 16".
Is the Juin Java Neo suspension hydraulic?
No. Although units carry “Hydraulic Unit” printing, this Java Neo version uses two steel coil springs with viscous grease damping and does not use a conventional hydraulic damper.
How much suspension movement does it have?
The suspension unit has up to approximately 10 mm of maximum compression or stroke. This refers to movement within the suspension unit itself, not 10 mm of rear-wheel travel.
Can I install the Juin suspension myself?
No. We supply this product together with professional installation at The Bike Atrium only. Individual Java Neo bikes can differ slightly in seatpost-clamp alignment, so each suspension must be fitted and aligned by our mechanics.
How does the manual suspension lock work?
Engage the latch after unfolding the bicycle before riding. Disengage the latch before folding the rear section of the bike.
How much does the Juin Java Neo suspension cost in Singapore?
The installed price is $195 for compatible Java Neo aluminium-frame models and $215 for compatible Java Neo 20" Full Carbon / J-AIR 20" models. Professional fitting is included.
